How to do lapping on Heatsink ?

I tried lapping my Northbrigde but i just couldnt get it to a mirror finish no matter wat there is still scratches on the base.

how high a grit of sandpaper u using? some good 2000 will give it a nice mirror finish. also before ur done just rest the hs on the paper and push it across with no downward pressure other thant he weight of the hs. also hold that heatsink up to something with writing ud be suprised at what u see

Up to 1200 i using. I guess i need to find higher grit sandpaper.
