Okay so I usually run 2gigs of gskill in my Ultra-D. But that stuff is sent in being repaired now and im trying to use 2 sticks of samsung 256mb and 1 stick of samsung 512mb in the mean time. They are the same model etc. but i cant figure out how to enable single channel in the bios so i can run the 3 sticks.

I've asked a few people from ocf on aim and they dont know how this can be done.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Nathan

Dual vs single channel is an automatic function of which slots and RAM modules are used. There is no setting in BIOS that I know of.

To get dual channel use an even number of identical sticks in the same color slots.
To get single channel, use alternate colored slots or mismatched RAM, or an odd number of sticks.

I did not think there was a problem running with one or three DIMMS besides forcing single channel or 2t timing.

From what I remember in the DFI forums, (and his MB is DFI), you can run 1, 2, or 4 sticks of RAM in a nF4 motherboard, but not 3.

3 should work fine. I have never heard of 3 not working. Dual channel will be disabled automatically.

Looking at the manual, it does not explicitly say 3 is not supported, but in the chart describing memory configurations, 1, 2 or 4 DIMMs are shown. I defer to the folks who say 3 will not work.

So to the op, just use any two sticks but put them in opposite colored slots, or just use the one 512 stick in any slot.

I've tried it whan I had two sets of Patriot TCCD. It was more of an accidental attempt. I forgot to put in a stick. No boot.
