I recently loaded win xp professional. I have spent the last two days setting up the os how i like. There is only one more thing and i cannot figure out how to do it. I loaded drivers for a d-link usb radio. They work fine, have not had any problems with them. However since they are not microsoft signed a get the annoying little icon at the bottom of my screen to safely remove hardware. My radio works so I want to get rid of this. Anyone know how?

can you post a pic of that? I've never heard of it before, and several of my drivers aren' digitally signed...

Easy daddyo just hit print screen on the keyboard
open word pad or note pad or some other word processor and then paste. seems like I used paint before but it didn't work for me this time so I used notepad:)

That little icon is for all removable media drives. For some reason you computer thinks that your USB radio is aremovable drive. My computer also displays that icon when my firewire drives are hooked up and running. When I click on the icon it shuts my firewire drive down so I can unplug it while the computer is running.

Hope that helped.:)

Thanks. It makes sense since this is a usb radio. But i would like to get it off of my task bar as it does not serve any purpose. I have looked at every option that is available in xp. Its more annoying than problematic, but still want to get rid of it.

Well, since you have your other inactive icons hidden, why don't you hide it as well? I'm booted into Linux right now, so I can't say word for word, but right click on the Start button and choose properties. Click on the Taskbar tab, and there should be an option to customize the systray icons there...maybe that will help.

I do actually have it hidden. I opened it back up for the screenshot. I do not like to keep anthing on the taskbar. Everything is cleared except for this one little item. If i have to live with it then i have to live with it. However i would like to nuke this little s.o.b. right off of my screen!:D
