Is there a way to test USB 3.0 speeds? I can't tell the difference when I copy files to and from my USB 3.0 external HDD.

There won't be much difference probably unless your external HD is SSD-based. I can tell a difference between USB 2 and USB 3 if I'm cloning a whole disk. Cuts the time by maybe 20-30%.

This, and any other disk benchmark out there.

The HDD will be the bottleneck though, not the interface.

I thought SATA 3 was 6gb/sec and USB 3.0 was 5gb/sec? If so then the USB would be the bottleneck.
Now if your talking USB 3.1 then yes the bottleneck would be the HDD.

5Gbps is 640MBps, it won't bottleneck any SATA III SSD I've seen.

Not sure where I got 640 from, but 625MBps is still the same story.
