i am new at building a computer and was told to come here and ask what is the best mother board with lots of slots. i was thinking in the 800-900Mhz range. if you could give me the brand name and the model # that would be great thanks.

I have had a few boards but the Asus CUSL2-C is the best for me until now !! It comes with pc133 support and has 6 pci 1 agp
and a cnr slot , also it has 2 usb ports but a extra set to install another 2 comes with the board. There is also the infra red possibility. That's about it. good luck with finding the right one for you !!

If I were you, I'd look into the AMD chips ,as long as they havent hobbled them yet to stop pretesting ,they are a better value and faster than the current intel chips, while overclocking better also

If you can, wait for the newer ddr mobo's to mature, or even till the new PIII "tualitin" 1.2's come out...this will drop the price on the gigs, the PIII's are suposed to ride a 200mhz bus...now ain't time to buy right now...if you do six months from now you will feel burned, and left behind...although the newer athlons are suposed to be backward compatible with the current mobo's...but both companies are planning to ramp up the .13 micron process, and should yeild 1.2g reliably

Good point - I wouldn't be buying no motherboard right now due to the severe changes in chips and chipsets going on right now.

Coppermine T seems quite exciting, but at the same requires a new chipset - so right now isn't the time.
