I just (successfully) swapped out my 80w tec with a 24v 172w tec in my MXW50-T and was upgrading my pump when I sprung a leak in my case!! I didn't have a connection sinched down tight enough. This was after I had holed myself up in my computer room for 10 hours on my wifes day off. Needless to say she wasn't too happy with me. I have basically become obsessed with extreme oc'ing and....I have to back off. I am gonna give up my Vapo PE and all of my "extreme oc'ing" equipment, Mean well psu's, Tec's, water blocks, rads, pumps, etc... I never thought I could do it....but I did, I will run my rig oc'ed but it will be with air from here on out. My obsession has just taken too much $ and time....I need to put it all in perspective....it's just a hobby....not a drug!!!!

I am replacing my Vapo PE with a nice little Lian-Li pc65 window unit and i will be using a Thermalright sp-94 with a Panaflow 92mm. I will be using the SVC Arctic Cooler on my 9800 XT...it will be a downgrade...but...there is life outside of my computer room....or so I'm told;)

Yeah, my stuff will be in the classifieds next week when I transfer all my components. so keep your eyes peeled....they will be good prices.

Aw... that's a bit sad dude... :(

Oh well... there's more ways than one to live a life ;)

Good luck to you on your li'l less extreme o'cing life!!
(You are always welcome back whenever you feel like!!)

Thanks bro, it was tough to do, especially after upgrading my mcw50-t to a 172w tec...I had been planning that lil' project for weeks. But dang....I have to get real! I felt like "Smeagel" in Lord of the Rings...."My precious..heh heh...my precious....oohhhhh!" *krag slaps himself for being dumb*

Bummer krag....

I have been in a similar boat. I was addicted to EQ in a bad way. I finally gave it up and have no regrets. I'm enjoying LIFE more now. On a positive note your wife should be much happier with you=happier you. As paxmax said you can Always start up again down the road :)

I can feel your pain I put over 20k in to playing Paintball in the past couple years and I gave that up but I kept one gun just to go and rec ball with ;)

Thats sad to hear man :(. Surely you don't have to totaly quit the extreme stuff? Why not go back to air cooling your GPU and keep the vapo on the cpu?

Thanks fellas, I appreciate your condolences:cry: But it would only lead me to more upgrades and "tweak systems". But it would be kinda like an alcoholic leaving a stache bottle hidden in the house.

No worries I'm picking up where krag left off. I now have 2 meanwell psu's and 8 pelts in the mail. So we'll see what I can do with a pretty damn good system as it is.

Yep, SNVPA just bought my 172w MCW50-T, Mean well & Realy.

ROCK ON BROTHER!!:attn: :attn: :attn:

KRAG,
Over the years my wife has been very understanding but theres been times when she just shakes her head. I've been were your at now, sold off all the parts and then slowly acquired it all again. I've never purchased a phase_change system like the vapo or prommie but I have made one and still have it, two of them to be exact. What I learned is to keep it all in perspective.

Anyways I can feel for ya and fully understand what your going through, Just mark my words I will bet you will have a water cooled rig with in 6 months LOL. For some reason OC'ing just gets in your blood.
Later Just shoot

NNOOoooooooooooo! *Walks into 12 step overclockers meeting*

"Hello, my name is krag. I have been in overclockers recovery for 4 weeks now." Last night was a bad one. When my wife was sleeping I logged on to net and locked th edoor to the study. I then went to www.dangerden.com and lusted over TEC's, watercooling units and PSU's. I don't think I can resist next time........."

obsession is a hard thing, i wish you luck in trying to get your life back together. maybe try doing something that both you and your wife enjoy?

lol wow and i thought i was the only one that got that glare and no talking treatment from the wife for days on end for being just stuck at my pc for hours and hours on end tweaking and playing.

I gave it up for a bit too but then slowly slid back into the addiction.

keep ya chin up bro youll be back :)

Dude i totaly know how you feel, when i get into somthing i go full out with it. First it was cars, then i got hard into motorcycles, nearly killed myself. I got into collecting music equipment for a while and spent some MAD money on that i could play but i didnt do it like i should of with what i had. Sold all that and got into those high dollar sport kites, sold all that got hard into R/C cars and this is where the computers start. I wanted a computer for the motor dyno, once i got the computer forget the R/C cars this is the new "hobby" I never got into water i had a few tecs but thats about as far as i took it. But i had 4 really nice rigs at one time. I think i just like the building part once its done and working as good as i can get it im bored with it.

I dont see anything wrong with it, you can learn alot about somthing your interested in and learn it inside and out. There are alot of things worse you could do

Thanks fellas...I still can't believe I did it. It certainly won't be the same. No longer will I have the fastest gaming rig in the State. Oh well...I guess I can settle for 10th or 11th, heh!

BTW, I got my Lian-Li pc65 rig up and running. So far I am at 240fsb with default voltage. Here is a shot of my new case (w/thermalright sp-94)...this washed out pic doesn't do it justice, but the red back lighting and the UV tubes are awesome looking.
