holy shot i cant believe i did it...running at 1.06ghz baby....

got a gigabyte gabx7 mobo, and a celeron 800mhz processor...was running at 8x124(992) for the longest time with no probs so i wanted to see if i could push it further...no go, at 133 it would post but not boot into windows...well i decided to try something

before i was using 3 sticks of pc100 ram...1 128 chip, 1 64 chip and 1 32 chip...i thought they might be holding me back so i popped in 2 128s rated for pc133...set the fsb for 133 and set the cpu voltage to go from 1.75 to 1.85...and low and behold here i am at 1.06 ghz...sweet...no errors so far..cross my fingers...and even better...mbm5 reports the same temps as before...no changes anywhere...and thats with a system thats folding 24/7 and only stock cooling :)

im pretty happy right now..just thought id share...

nice o/c, jeff, congrats! :D Yeah, it's a common thing to have multiple sticks hold you back...I found that out the hard way, too...if I had known, I would've bought a bigger stick to begin with for my rig...

Damn good job man... nothing beats the feeling of gettin it over 1 gig when you've been in the sub gig range for so long... I'll never forget the feeling when I finally after 6 months of trying and testing got my 866 to 1007.. again good job man

Great job. But do you think you'll be happy with 1ghz? Already pushing for more? :)

lol, just tried pushing it to 8*140, it posted...kinda slow but again froze at the windows logon screen..i really do think that before i go any higher i should at least get a system fan and maybe some active cooling for my northbridge and a better hsf for my cpu...so far im running on stock cooling with a $7 case...well something that started out as a "budget system" is now turning out to be an overclocking project...oh well..at least im having fun :)

Keep it as high as it will permit, with lots of voltage. Work it real hard the next 5 or 6 days....then try 140 again. Sometimes those Intel chips love a little burn in

Nice man...congrats and welcome to the 1 GHz/Up club. :)

OCing is very important for distributed computing projects, it's nice to see more work out of a system just from a bit of tinkering. Personnally, I run SETI and you can't image my excitement of seeing sub 3 hour wu times on my new P4 rig....LOL, something only a geek would understand. :D
