I can't find a Wii and can't afford a PS3...

I was at Gamestop today and asked the guy if they had any Wii systems in? "Of course not," he replied... "They've been sold out as soon as the enter the store."

For the hell of it, I asked if he had any PS3, not expecting him to say yes because theyve been sold out as well. He said "As a matter of fact, I have 3 of them." I was surprised, and asked him how much? He said, once you buy a game and an extra controller, you are looking at about $800 for the larger hard drive unit.

OMG, I wanted to buy a PS3 but that is just crazy to spend on a video game system. The Wii is only a 3rd of that price and it has Zelda! I didn't see much games for the PS3 out yet... Otherwise I would have probably put myself in huge dept...haha

I am just surprised that the PS3s are sitting on shelves now? People were lined up down the block in lines of 60+ people here in Chicago... You figure at least some of hose people still have not gotten one.

yup, you are stuck in the same predicament that most others are stuck in.

you have the cash for a wii, but can't find one ANYWHERE, yet don't want to push yourself into debt buying a PS3 which CAN be found anywhere.

Trust me man, join the club. i know quite a few friends who want a wii, but can't find one. hell, my dad wants a wii!!! ( i'm completly SHOCKED too!! If NINTENDO can attract a 46 year old man, they MUST be doing SOMETHING right ). but they can't find one anywhere.

And sony hs been ramping up production on the PS3. about 2 weeks or so ago, when people saw PS3's sitting in the stores, it was because of returns due to lack of ebay sales. NOW most PS3's you see in stores is from what sony has shipped to them, and simply havn't sold. Naturally the reason is the same as yours. most people don't want to drop nearly 800 dollars for a game system with a few accessories. at least, not for a console that has so few games that interest them (yet).

and sony people, i'm not bashing sony AT ALL. but they need to get their head out of their butts and either try to get a price drop on the PS3, or pressure developers to pump out some games QUICK. every day, they keep losing more of the market share. every day, Nintendo and Microsoft get another leg up up on them.

I WANT a PS3 just as bad as many of you guys do. but i can not justify dropping nearly 800 bucks for a console. And i say 800 bucks, because like most people, i don't want the 500 dollar model, and i'd want a few controllers and a game or two. Hell, i can't justify dropping 800 bucks on my PC unless its a FULL-AND-COMPLETE upgrade of almost everything on my PC! I'm not the type that will go out and drop nearly 500 bucks on a single video card. I'm the type that will take 500 bucks to update to a new socket type with a new mobo,processor,Ram, AND video card. Which if you guys read my sig, thats something i have not done in a LONG time.

the only exception is my monitors It was a black friday deal, and i play games, work on my PC, and watch alot of movies on my computer. So i wanted some decent monitors. When you have a $75 walmart brand 27" tv in your room, a 20" widescreen LCD blows the 75 dollar tv out of the wall, even though it is smaller. And when you have two of them keke. playing games while watching a movie on the 2nd monitor...i swear i'm addicted to dual monitors

well, i'v ranted, and gone WAY off topic. I'm comming down with the flu, woke up after 4 hours of sleep, can't get back to sleep, feel like hell, and my mind keeps wondering. Time to troll other parts of the forums, and make a few more essay sized posts

Everyone I've talked to said that there probably won't be a price drop until at least a year from now the same way they waited for the PS2...

I hope because of bad sales that they drop the price sooner because I can't afford that for a while.

As of right now, Sony cannot afford to drop the price. They're already losing almost (if not more than) $300 on every console sold.

I'm going to get one eventually, but not for quite a while, and pro'lly not brand new. I'll wait until I can get it previously enjoyed.

Sony can't even sell them in Japan. The article says it's a combination of high price and lackluster launch titles, and I happen to agree with this. We'll see good stuff eventually, but not right now.

I do agree right now the PS3 is more of a wait a few months for it to take off type deal. It is lacking many features which will not come until the firmware update in March(Same time as the Euro launch) and the selection of games is not that great. Still though I did get one myself and am love with it very much (mainly resistance). Anyway mind if I ask though why you are not considering a 360?

I went to BB today and they didn't have any. I stoped by EB and they didn't have any neither. Since I was in the shoping center I stoped by Circuit City and same story.

I have yet to check Wallmart.

I was just in gamestop and a lady asked about Wii's and the guy said 3 came in yesterday and where gone right away. He said people literally walk around the mall killing time early morning and follow the UPS guy into the store to see what he has.

I was at Best buy and they had 2 unopend PS3's sitting behind the customer counter, no doubt returns from failed ebay sells.

Get Zelda for the GC and wait. Theres not much for the Wii or PS3 thats very good that can't be had elsewhere other than Resistance and its hard to justify $500 or $600 for that.

Don't sweat the fact that you can't get either at this point. Theres not a whole lot worth getting yet.

The Virgin Megastore on the Champs Elysees has about FOUR MILLION Wiimotes. Even comes with a free game. Seriously if you're willing to pay for shipping and the dollar-to-euro conversion I could get ALL OF YOU wiimotes if you want them.

And the PS3? First console I saw in the states. They were sold out of PSPs and DS Lites but they had a 20 gig PS3 waiting there at the EB Games near the Microcenter on Elston in Chicago. And a week after that they had a 60 gig. They had one at the EB Games at Old Orchard too.

Sh**... just go to EB Games.

Next time I'm in the Virgin Megastore... which will probably be tomorrow since I can't seem to purchase Microsoft points with my cards and they're the only place allowed to be open on Sunday here... Next time I'm there I'll snap a picture of just how many Wiimotes they have. If it's less than a thousand then I must be blind. (I'm half blind already but it's at least more than three thousand.)
