In a bittersweet move, I finally sold my beloved KT7A-R as a favor to a friend who desperately needed a quick and dirty upgrade. Its been a long journey of two years through scorching hot thunderbirds, buggy Via drivers, and voltage mods.

Finally through another thread on this forum I reflashed my bios and got an xp 2100+ to overclock to 2.3ghz :D

My question now is what Abit motherboard should I buy now? I don't particularly need a motherboard right now. I have my eyes on the Abit NF7 v2.0. Does anyone know if Abit will release the NF7 with the new nforce2 ultra that 'officially' supports 200FSB?
Should I get the NF7 v2.0 or should I wait for another motherboard?

thanks,

Why wait? Unless you care only about official support and wanna pay a high premium for it. The v2 is using the same C1 northbridge that the 'ultra' will use when it is released. It already supports 200 mhz fsb!

as a KT7a-R owner I know what you mean, great board. But the NF7 is a huge step from there and my rev. 1.2 is running at 200mhz FSB right now!:D I'd say get one or wait and pay more for the next best thing to come out, then wait for a bios or driver to come out so it will work the way it's supposed to!! Can you tell I own two NF7-s systems?:bang head

thanks for the input guys. I'm going to purchase an nf7-s v2.0 in June. It'll go great with my xp 2100+ tbred b.

I'm hoping to reach 2.4ghz now on 1.9-2.0v (I could only reach 2.3ghz on my kt7)

Good choice, although the 1700+ is right there with the 2100+ for almost half the price. I have gotten to 2466mhz with my 2100+ AIUHB T-bred using Geil value ram that will only go to about 204 with my multiplier settings above 10.5, My other system has a 1700+ JIUCB with samsung pc3200 and it has hit close to 2.2ghz.:D You do realize that by june there could be a newer revision the way these boards have gone lately!
