I have a 40 dB HSF, if add another 40 dB fan, will my case appear to be any louder?

I have a 40dB HSF and whenever I add 20 - 30 dB case fans, the sound level doesn't really change. But if I add another 40 dB fan, will I be able to tell? I want to add 2 120mm panflo fans that are each rated at 40dB. Thanx :)

Well what's louder, one person screaming at you, or two(assuming they were screaming at the same level)

Hmmm

Im not big on fans i love h20 :).

But i used to have 2 80mm sunnons running now the extra fan never seemed to make it any louder in motor noise but with 120mm fans pushing a big amounbt of air i would feel that this may cause your sound to increase slightly unless they were unrestricted blow holes.????

With fans air noise is the problem really except for those horrible little whining cpugpu & Nbridge fans.

Plain and simple i reckon it will be louder but not much.

It will probably depend on where you place the fan. But as far as the decibel system goes: if one sound source is X dB, and you have two of them, it ends up being X+3 dB.

Very true. Anytime you double the volume the decibel rating goes up by 3. Its very confusing to some people.
