Well, I bought the Coolermaster CC kit, it's red. I plugged it in, and it worked. I left the room, and was gone for maybe 5 minutes.

When I came back, I noticed it was off. I re-plugged everything in, and then the inverter caught fire. Anyone have any clue as to why? I ordered a new inverter. Could the actual lamp be causing the problems? Or is it the cheap inverter? Thank you for your help.

Personally I would take it up with the manufacturer and make them give you another one. Especially since it caught fire

Make sure you have everything connected right. But it sounds like something went horribly wrong.

Well, by caught fire, I didn't mean there was a flame, more just smoke and a fishy smell. I took it apart and the big yellow box in the middle of the PCB was burnt.

The light came on for a minute, but in went off quickly. I have a feeling that it was somehow overvolted, but how?

that big yellow box in the middle is the transformer. If it is burned, then it was defective and you should return it.

just email coolermaster with the prob and maybe even a pic, they will probably be more than happy to send you a new one.

Well, that's all great, but I ordered a new one instead. The whole kit was like 4 dollars, and shipping would be 8 bucks from Newegg. Forget it, I don't like sending in RMAs, it's a hassle.
