Didnt know where to post this... So general Hardware it goes! Alright. I have(had) an MSI kt333. I have owned it for about a 4 months, and about a month ago it died. I did not have it overclocked or anything. Just had it running overnight, and the next morning... Nothing. Some traces were fried. I just want to know if I am RMA'ing it right. I send it in. They send a new one, or working one back. How long does this take, and do I have a legit reason? What all do I need to do this? I am reading it on their site, but want to double check with people who have done this before. thanks.

Sounds like a nice ligit reason to me :)

I've never done an RMA myself, but from what I've heard, you write the RMA number on the shipping box, ship it to them, wait a little bit (dunno how long), and a new one comes back to you.

Yea. I was reading more in depth. It says if it has bent pins, cracked stuff, ect. Then it said burned things, are signs of abuse. I had this motherboard on for a few hours. BTW, I faxed them a form, and they send me a rejection, or RMA number. *prays for RMA number*

Sounds like a legit reason to me.

I RMA'd a Nostromo Speedpad a few weeks ago. Wasn't really meaning to...I actually just emailed them to ask if I could purchase a new gamepad for it, as it broke on my old one. They just emailed me back an RMA number, and told me to mail it back to them.

You have to put the RMA number on the outside of the package, clearly visible. You have to pack it in a box, and you have to pay to ship the damaged product to them...they pay to ship the new one to you. (at least...that's how it worked for me)

I recieved the new product via Fed Ex, about 10 days after I mailed the broken one to them. But I guess YMMV, depending on where you are geographically compared to where you have to send it. (fyi: I'm in Louisiana, Belkin's US headquarters is in California). Guess it also depends on the manufacturer's replacement department, and how speedy they are.

I got the RMA #. So now I just ship it off to MSI? What do I include? I am assuming the RMA form, the number outside the box, and my return address, right? thanks.

Squirrell..

As the others have stated, all you have to do is place the RMA# clearly on the outside of the box/package you are using to mail the mobo to. Include any correspondence you may have received (email confirmations, copy of the fax you sent, etc, etc) inside the package, and make sure it is packed good. I have rma'd some ASUS boards in the past and they moaned about some of the packing I have done on it.

Also, check to see if MSI has something online to check the status of your RMA. Usually, as stated above, it can take anywhere from 10 business days to 1 month+.

most send out the replacement part as soon as they receive the RMA'd part...

make sure the mailing you use will have a tracking number...

yeah, send it via CERTIFIED mail, with signature confirmation.

that way they can never say it got lost in the mail.

be sure to put your address on a sheet of paper in the package, so they know who to ship it to.

oh, and you should check msi's website, they should have instructions on how they want it packaged, etc
