:( :( :( guys thanks a lot for all the inputs

i really not into o/c
i just wanan replace a quiet fan and do very good cooling. NOTHING TOO HARDCORE...

can anyone please direct me to a site so i can purshase asap

thanks

if you dont want to overclock at all, get the $2 80mm fan here, it has the performance and low noise of a panaflo, but its hell of a deal. You might also get the SK-7 there too.

i have an SLK 800 with a 40CFM sunon. i actually use that sunon fan for intake and exhaust as well (3 fans total). it's noisey. in my opinion these fans aren't good as cooler fans because the center part is very wide and the blades are very short. so in order to get a good amount of airflow over the cooler the fan would have to be place a few inches above it. these fans would make a better case fan if it wasn't for the noise. i'd suggest a different fan in either scenario. i'm on an xp1900 and my temps don't move from idle to load. they stay at 50C at ANY clock. i've gone from 1600 to 1800 with no change in temperature at all. my next step is PANAFLOW fans. going to duct a low speed 120mm from the side panel onto the cooler. than replace the sunons with quieter fans. if that doesn't do it than i'll be on to water cooling. i found a bunch of thermal paste on my CPU when i pulled it apart (came shipped together for some reason) i think the thermal goop made it's way into the chip and it holds all the heat there. only thing i can think of except a faulty thermistor

just improve ure airflow *120 blow hole or somethin*... set up a toggle switch on the front with the fans u want to turn off when ure just surfing the net or somethin then crank it up when ure playin games...

you know. you might laugh at me for this.. but it works. get an sk6+ heat sink, lap the crap out of it and use arctic silver 3. you will need a shim but thats ok. go get a fan from a certified amd box, stick that on your sk6+ and build a simple duct with a 80 mm case fan feeding it fresh air. The amd fans dont make much more than 30 db. in fact, the one i have is closer to 22db and on a good heat sink, cools fine. I thought i would experiment with my sk 7 and this application, case open and no ducting. I got a max load of 54ºC as the fan isnt a tramendous performer, however, this is well below the spec for safe operating temps and makes very little noise. I reccommend it.

however, I would not recommend this for a mad overclock system. mine ran ok at 166 mhz idling at 45ºC. this is about what my smart fan II ran full bore on my volcano 9 heat sink. this just proves that the quality of the heat sink is god. get a sk6 or 7 and you wont be dissappointed.

Aite, i just proved it for you. I took my sk 7 heat sink and slapped a amd 60 mm ****e box fan on it from one of their retail sinks. (looks like a volcano 3). I ran it with my 2 80 mm intake feeds with special accustic tubing. the overall noise from my pc is less than 30db but here is the kicker.... my oc xp 1600+ at 1.8 ghz refuses to break 55ºC which is more than acceptable for a low noise system. for most stock applications, even up to a 2200+, i can see this working and it solves your noise issue. you can get these fans at the store for like $10. or use a 80 mm case fan for it. im sure that would work as well and make a little less noise. with my feeds, it makes more than you can expect but there you go. $70 cdn for a low noise, high performence cooler.

This heatsink is for P4s, this won't fit your needs. No heatsink is "Complex"... Get a good heatsink, you won't regret it

with a good heat sink you can afford to skimp a bit on the fan. so i agree with this. fans are cheap. my roomate is using my volcano 9 heat sink with a stock 80 mm case fan. that would suit you well. $10 fan on a thermal right sink would give you the cooling + and still be silent.
