After folding for more than 36 hours straight at 1633 Mhz and 2.0 vcore, I figured my computer was pretty darn stable. This was at a room temp of about 74F. Well, a reccent cool front and thunderstorm has now left my area, and my room temp shot up to over 85F! Needless to say, I've lost 2 Protein Anat's, one at 73% the other somewhere around 40-50%... I backed off my voltage and dropped my OC to 1595Mhz, and thought that'd be ok. Well, I came home today to find a BSOD. So now I'm running at 1400Mhz and default voltage, which suxx IMO. I have 2 window AC units in my house, but they just aren't enough, and neither is in my computer room.

Oddly enough, my cpu temp sensor ahas never reported atemperature above 41C at full load.

Dreaming of an AC unit right next to my computer....

I'm dreading the day I have to put the AC in the window.....it's too soon coming. The wife has already intoned that it, AND four rigs will not run 24/7...... :(

If I can get a KVM soon, I can ditch the "monitors-r-us" around my desk, unplug the power and HDD LEDS on one of the rigs, but not two....she'll figure that one out...

I had my "3rd" rig running and Folding for almost two months before she caught on it was working....had the LEDs unplugged...she thought it was an empty case sitting under the desk..... :p

power useage

The big limiting factor for me, is that the house I'm renting is from the '30's and the wiring is terrible. We've got 2 desktops, scanner, printer, router, cable modem, laptop, speakers/receivers, blacklights, desk lamps... and just way too much stuff plugged into a room that has only 2 outlets. Don't know where I'll plug in a window AC unit.. or my pump for a future H2O project.

Hmmm, maybe I should just get a really long cat5 cable and setup my desk in the living room right next to the window AC unit in there. That'd solve all my problems.

You ain't in the living room yet? Cat 5 cable is a lot cheaper than an AC unit.:)

computer room

My roommates and I have a computer room: 2 desktops, 2 laptops, a poker table, printer, router, all kinds of blacklights/x-mas lights/lava lamps/lasers...

It's in between the two rooms that have AC units, but now that the heat is coming on, I can see that that is just not enough. I'm moving my desk 1st thing when I get home from work. Screw the cool-looking computer room thang, I want OC'd performance!

Just gotta get a 30' network cable....

ooh man this summer is going to rock. when i go home from school, my computer is going up into my room, onto my desk RIGHT next to a nice cool AC unit :) should be good for 1400 if i'm lucky..this thing hasn't been oc'd in a while due to the heat in our dorm room because they have the stupid radiator on 24/7.

but at home there's no 24/7 net connection so i'll only be able to fold while i'm online :( goodbye production.

I have just placed one of my rigs where an AC unit is going to be when temps go back up this summer.. Unfortunatly my XP rig is in puter area that has no window next to it.. Just gonna have to hurry on the phase shift project :) Good luck to you all onkeeping your rigs cool this summer. Im sorry to hear that production is going down soon :(

Summer

Gotta stay cool... and for the Aussies it'll be starting to get cold soon.

LMAO! Its like all women are evil beings trying to stop our plan to save the world! :argue: Thanx for the laugh Mr B!

My girlfriend likes the house nice 'n' cool (just like I do, around 70°F), and she's the bread winner anyway. So I'm hoping this summer won't hurt the production too much. We have a new house and it's pretty efficient, although down here in NC it can get pretty damn hot, only time will tell.
