Can't get P3 550 "katmai"/Abit BE-6 combo to go more than 630mhz and stay running. FSB is 115 right now and when I push it to 120, it boots but locks as soon as windows ME opens. Increasing voltage in softmenu seems to have no effect. Default core voltage for this p3 chip is 2.0 and have gone as high as 2.3. that's as high as it goes in softmenu. Hoping to get to 650 or better. Is it my bios or ram or video card or L2 cache or am I maxed at 630 with this combo?
ram is 1 stick of pc100 128, voodoo 3 card w/16 ram. 120 is the bugaboo.

In advance, thanks for your help again

115 is as far as it goes with default voltage. cooling is plain jane variety that came with the system, heatsink w/fan.

Your RAM could be the problem here, knowing that it is only 100MHz... can you borrow some 133MHz from a friend or something, and try to see if that does the trick? :)

I don't think 630MHz is impressive - what temps are you reading? If it gets very HOT, cooling could be the issue!

I'll try the pc133 ram. The last reading I got for CPU temp was 84.2 degrees fahrenheit. I'll let you know what happens with your suggestion.

Thanks
Matt
