im getting a pc with the following spec..
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
Corsair 4GB DDR400 XMS3200
Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB X2
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Card

now i need a video card im thinking of an
EVGA GEFORCE 6800 GT 256MB DDR PCI-EXPRESS
its seems like a pretty good card for the price, anyone have any other suggestions or comments about this card?

Yep, you can get the 7800GT for around $280 after rebates now, usually eVGA. Anything above the 7800GT would be the 7800GTX starting at around $400ish.

I'd go 7800GT, but if you're looking to "future-proof" it go 7800GTX. It won't make a difference now, but it will out last the GT (maybe not by a whole lot, but outlast the GT none-the-less).
