Strange problem. Before I begin I'm leaning toward a bad CPU.

Board worked with an i5-750. Picked up an i3-750, biostars website says its compatible. I have the latest bios version installed.

Biostar tp55
Dynex 700w power supply
Evga gts450
Kingston hyperx blu 8gb
2 seagate 1.5TB
1 seagate 1TB
1 OCZ Onyx 32GB SSD

The computer locks up randomly with a blue screen, with no recognizable details. When in bios setup, can't switch hard drive type to AHCI because the computer freezes when trying. Other settings in bios also freeze the machine. I've tried other video cards, other memory, one stick at a time, all with the same results. The only thing I haven't done is put the i5 back in it and see what happens.

Anyone seen anything like this before? The damn thing won't even boot at all anymore. I'm getting a little aggravated.

Are you sure you have the latest bios revision? They show the latest rev of your bios as "P55BA602.BST". And try sticking your old 750 back in and see if the board runs correctly then. If it doesn't, you might also have accidentally damaged 1 or more pins in the socket when changing the procs out.

Even genius has its moments.......

Turns out that the bios that was on this board, "newer" than the one listed as latest on the web site, doesn't even show on Biostar's site. I rolled back to the "latest" revision listed, and voila, it works. I appreciate the help! This is certainly a lot better than a bad processor. 7 is installing slowly but surely, and I'll be back up and running in no time. Now it's time to put my i5 back together.

Sidenote: The next case I buy will allow access to the back side of the CPU socket without removing the board.
