When I decided to build my new computer I faced a problem and I have confused which to choose?

First
1) Intel Core i7-860
2) GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD6
3)CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB 1600Mhz

Second
1) Intel Core i7-920
2)GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7
3) CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB 1600Mhz

Please notice the Specifications which I took from Gigabyte website:

for GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD6
6 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2600+/2200/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
I mean it supports 1600Mhz and it doesn't support triple channel!

for GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7

6 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 24 GB of system memory(Note 1)
Dual/3 channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

I mean it supports tripple channel and doesn't support 1600Mhz and it will be 1333Mhz!

I don't know which has the most impact

My mean Question:
Which is better for me? according to these diffrent techniques!

the other components:

two of Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB in Raid 0
SAPPHIRE 100284L Radeon HD 5750 1GB
Croasier 650 W
Gigabyte Sumo 5115

remark: I don't intend to overclock!

x58 WILL support 1600. That board will do 1600mhz, dont worry about it.

Personally, if youa re going to spend the money and get i7, get X58. Its much more mature, and clocks a bit better currently.

If you want to save a little money, but be able to do whatever you need to, Id get i5 on P55 rather than i7 on P55. Just my thoughts though.

Keep in mind with prices, 4x2gb will be a bit more than 3x2gb. Also, you can find i7 920 cheaper than the i7 on P55 (like at Microcenter). Motherboards are slightly more expensive for x58 usually, but given that youw ill be spending more on ram, it will even out.

Definitely i7 on X58 or i5 on P55.

And overclocking on x58 i7 is a cakewalk. You WILL overclock damnit! Get a good cooler, the addiction will come :)

THAT is the truth. I never thought i'd over clock, and now i have a new cooler in the mail to OC with cause i can't get over 3.6 on stock cooler. (it'll do 4.0 no prob though... besides melting down)

I know it suppotrs but it will be considered as 1333Mhz
or I am wrong???

What do you intend to do with this PC ?

I will use it to run engineering applications and sound editings
the games aren't my main use

Them memory will run fine at all speeds from 1066MHz to 2200MHz...as others have said, this is not something you need to be concerned about. I have the EX58-EXTREME board and run my mem at 1600MHz 24/7 no problems :)

Both builds will serve you well.

But I chose X58 because of the maturity and maybe upgrade path later in the future.

Go with the X58 then, sure upgrade path for a 6 core 12 thread monster which on 32nm will use less power than the current i7 cpus. Sub 1V 3Ghz is just damn good.

Then who knows maybe even sandy bridge will work in these mobos, at least I dream about such. ;)
