i cant seem to get xp to install on my ic7. when i go into bios to change things and then save it the cd rom drive doesnt get detected. sometimes i get random files not being able to be copied during setup but if i open and close the cd rom it works. other times it gets through the setup ok but then when its about to boot to instalation the screen goes blank and i have to start over. sometimes i get all the way into installation and it stops part way through. would updating the bios fix this? i dont have a floppy right now so i was planning on doing it through windows. ive already tried stipping it back down and rebuilding it twice to no avail. the rest of my system is as follows..

abit ic7
p4 2.4 m0
2x512 mushkin lvl2
ati 9800np
segate baracuda 80gb
sblive 5,1 sound card
antec true480
lite on 48x burner
stock cooling w/artic silver

please help...... this is really ****ing me off it shouldnt take 4 hours to get windows installed

i got windows installed then when it rebooted it blue screened with the following

*** stop: 0x0000007b (0xf7c4e63c,0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

My guess is the memory...
I would try these settings:
SoftMenu:
N/B Strap 800
AGP/PCI locked and at 66/33
vdimm 2.8 (you've got BH5 memories, they love voltage)

Advanced chipset:
Manual timings
2.5
7
3
3

And be sure to disable the last to settings (CPC and tRDA)

i had sata enabled, but i dont use it so it was messing it all up. works good now :D
