IDE to SATA, worth the switch?

is there a big diff between a sata and an ide drive as far as speed?

i mostly game and surf with my rig and currently have a WD 100gb, external seagate 120gb and a seagate 40gb that runs linux.

Unless you purchased a Western Digital Raptor drive then you really won't notice any differences. The Raptor drives run at 10k RPM with like 3.5ms seek times compared to the 8-10ms of most IDE drives.

cool...i'll get the raptor later then. makein a large purchace at newegg tomorrow morning, so i can wait on that drive.
