When my CPU is idle it gets around 29C but when i run small ftts on orthos it quickly jumps to around 55 or so in less than a minute. I am at 1.36 vcore and at 3600ghz. Do you think its seated wrong or whats the deal?

im not so much worried about the temps themselves just that large of a jump, wondering if it warrants a remount or what

Ok what must be 0, i have those programs but dont see throttle..

In case of your current setup (oc) and the rest, the difference between idle and load (small ftt´s) its absolutelly ok for an E6600;)

The PC which I am using is an Intel HT 3.2GHz (single core) non overclocked.
I am just surfing so it ZZZ....:D
Thus throttling is zero as you see in photo.

You could of turned off throttling in the bios by chance.

I'd say that type of jump from load to idle is definatly strange. Idle to load is typically around a 10C difference. But doubt its a heatsink mounting issue, with it idling so cold it should be making great contact with it.

My e6600 clocked from 2.4 to 3.2 with a Noctua NH-U12 + 12cm fan goes from 36-37c to 55c at load. I wouldn't be that concerned, considering Core 2's were based on the Pentium M design for laptops, which minimizes consumption at idle (ie less power/heat).. You have really good temps considering the oc you're doing on air. I wish I had your temps :(

I don't have a Conroe, but for most of my SETI farm (2 Xeons, 2 Prescotts, 2 NW's, and 1 920D), idle to 100% load temps differ about 20°C. With that trendx, I would think the temp change for your rig would be normal.

Ya but when you OC the CPU most have to turn off that nice feature "speedstep" which downclocks the cpu and drops the power consumption. Thats what gives laptops its advantage with less power/heat when idling. If you disabled that your definatly not getting that advantage at idle.

Oh ya and if it jumps quickly to 55C, it probably will gain 4-5C more when the tempature levels out at least.

Oh ok, i was going to remount it but i dont think ill bother... who knows if im bored one day it wont hurt to reseat it for fun.

Well i remounted it and it jumps to about 50 now so i guess thats better. Makes me feel alittle safer about how the thing is mounted. Now to see if i can push this baby further on air.
