Learnt a lesson the hardway the other day....
I decided to upgrade my 3d card from my trusty oc'd TnT2 m64 to a Geforce 2 mx. (long overdue)
i found one with 64mb ram and tv out for $179AU..
Got it in my beast {Asus A7V-133 with Duron 800@950, 128 mb pc133} and during install to my horror it stated it was a mx200...DO'H..
I thought 'how bad could it be' and ran couple of benchmarks.. first Passmark performance test..
it scored a WEEDY 218.7 fps... (ol tnt2 m64 stock was 218.9)
As u can see it was quite POOR....
Secondly 3dmark 2000....
1568.... Goddamn.. this card really sucks.. (tnt2 m64 stock 1380)
i though id crank things up a little with a bit of O'cing..
i cranked gpu to 200 mhz (175 stock) mem 180 (166 stock).. HARDLY any difference... F*** this
I decided to take the F***en POC back and was hit with a 20% restocking fee... i ended up happily handing the thing back just to get rid of it..
On the way home i stopped at another store and picked up a Asus v7100 Gf2 mx with tv out, 32mb for $224AU.
Now this baby CRANKS... was worth the extra bucks for sure... I recommend it
Passmark 749.3 fps... 8)
3d mark- 4582...8)
WHAT A DIFFERENCE.. and i havent even overclocked yet...
Anyone else had a similar misfortune ??

I bought the prophet II Kyro which just came out it had 64meg SDRAM

I just wanted to test it out so i bought it at comp usa and brought it home. Took out my 14 old month voodoo 3 card overclocked from stock 166mhz to 194mhz and put in the kyro II.
This card didnt impress me at all!!!! Unreal T, graphics looked the same and ran a few frames faster than my voodoo 3. I took it back and got my 150 dollars back with no restocking fee. I think the best investment is to go with DDR ram for a video card and either a geforce leadtek GTS pro or geforce 3.

DDR ram is the way to go

I have the MX Pro model ,much faster and good image. Sound like you purchased a standard 64MB MX (a 200 model), and they are not very fast (2 pipelines versus 4 in the MX400)... but I don't think they benchmark that low??

I'm glad you found a better card. Your 3dmarks are good, too. I wish I could run dual procs under win98se, otherwise I'd probably get some sweet results.
