You betcha...I LOVE flying this game...

Just downloaded the newest patch (1.21) and have been happily toying with the improved flight models and all the new flyable aircraft...
Totally awesome in my opinion...the Japanese Frank and Zero are a dream come true...but they ignite like a July 4 Fireworks Display...Finally a flyable Mustang, now THAT is Shwe-e-e-e-t!!!
Several other members are sure to turn up and post here eventually, for I know there are quite a few IL-2 enthusiasts hereabouts...Give em time...
Great graphics, and even for a dated video card like mine, the visual extravaganza is breathtaking...Makes me want a new graphics card just to see what I've been missing...
This game should keep any WWII Flight Simmer quite captivated for some time to come...
Patiently awaiting the release of the Battle of Britain sequel...should be equally amazing...

Gotta love this game. :D>

You really need to play online. Its great.

Yes, I am junky. I spend most of my time at Greater Green, since I like their settings (almost full real, but with friendly icons). And I have a good ping with them.

I have a hard time finding a game online sometimes because I can't stand the settings of many of the servers.

Where I am happiest is finding a server with early war settings. I love flying the P-40 against early 109's. I know the characteristics of the plane, and I'm a pretty good shot with it.

I can hold my own on a later map with a Yak 3, but I can hardly hit a barn door with its cannons. And you run out of ammo in a hurry in that thing. Especially trying to shoot down a 190.

One thing I have noticed is that those who like to fly blue have an advantage. If you fly blue, you'll always be flying either a 109 or a 190.

Not the same one, but you get the idea.

If you do not like to fly blue (I don't, just kind of a philosophical mental block) you're constantly having to fly different planes depending on the server and the map.

It is much easier to become a skilled pilot if you stick mostly with the same plane.

It makes me wish that I did like to fly blue. But I guess someone has to be cannon fodder for some of those insanely skilled LW jockeys.

I LOVE THIS GAME, and i love LOMAC , my favorite plane in fb is la-5/7. yak-1/3. in lomac-mig29 all tha way!!! i play on ubi.

Hyperlobby

Hyperlobby
Get this client.
You want to see online combat ,do it there.

i have hyperlobby, but i didnt use it as much as ubi, what is your name in hyperlobby?

Yes, it is Noam.

The IL2 Sturmovik was the main ground attack aircraft of the Soviets during WW-2.

IL2 Forgotten Battles is a combat flight simulator. It is a sequel to the original IL2 Sturmovik.

At this time, these games are the best WW-2 era flight simulations around. I've never heard of anyone who has tried both to prefer Microsoft's Combat Flight simulators.

Take a look at the official website here, http://www.il2sturmovik.com/

I agree. I have both games and I certainly prefer IL2 to MS Combat Fight Simulator. IL2 looks better and performs as a simulation better.

I have not played online yet....I don't think I would be flying very long....I'm kinda sucky. I always end up in a violent spin after pushing my aircraft too hard.

With lots of practice, I've gotten quite a bit better. But I still spin one in from time to time.

What is really embarassing is when you spin in while trying to shake someone. Basically you just did their work for them!

Then again, when I'm on someones 6, and they lose control and spin in trying to dodge me, I don't really feel the same satisfaction that I do when I let loose a long burst, and reduce their plane to flaming junk.

And when you accidentally fly into the ground trying to get someone off of your tail, you get a certain satisfaction if they follow you in.
