My friend is building a gamers rig. this is what he has been looking at so far for the holidays... or january

XaserII Case
Exos Water Cooling
AMD ATHLON XP 2800+
ABIT NFORCE 2 MotherBoard
2 256 MB Sticks of Corsair XMS PC 3500 memory
160 GB IBM Hard Drive
ABIT Siluro Geforce 5 or ATI 9700 pro
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
Toshiba 16x DVD Drive
Liteon 48x CdRW

anything else to add would be great.. he is really excited about it.. but is kinda a wuss and is afraid to post in the forumns.

for a GeForce 5 he is going to have to wait...those things won't be out till next year and I don't think they will be called GeForce5...also ONE stick of PC3500 would work better, preferabley a 512MB stick...besides that...he has a VERY expensive computer, but one helluva computer

Well, you will be switching out that mobo due to lack of mounting holes. I think so far, the only board I've seen with a waterblock mounting setup was Epox.

Other than that, one hell of a system. :)

*Edit* Stick with the two sticks of 256....dual channel ddr is always nice, and will help memory bandwidth in high-detail games (I.E. Dragothic + Lobby tests on 3dmark2k1)

THATS THE POINT LOL... i have no clue what that other guy was thinking! maybe he is like this guy.

nforce2 mobos are out from chaintec and asus a7n8x, a lot of us (including me) are waiting for mobos from epox and abit though.
2800+ (i believe) should be out within weeks since the 2700+ is already avaialbe form newegg

i doubt that the 2800+ will be released by that time however, seeing how amd surprised us w/ the 2700+ which is out now, it is certainly possible.

ya the nv30 wont be out by then so stick w/ the 9700 pro

Thought the XMS 3500 has problems when running with more than one stick? Not sure if this has been fixed though. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
