I am in a band and I want to modify a 4x12 cab and construct it fully out of plexiglass. I have seen computers formed with about the same design but I will need it alot bigger. I have a few questions though. first off, how hard is it to make a plexi case? I dont want to buy a 600 dollar piece of equipment and mess the whole thing up. second, would it be eaisier to just put each speaker in four different small cubes and then some how connect them? third, would this interfear with it in anyway? I know this isnt a guitar place but It was the last place to turn and I have seen alot of plexi cases done here. the computer is getting worked on first.

Having been a roadie and guitar tech for a while in the past, and knowing a bit about acoustics...I don't see this as working too well. It'll look killer, but the sound will suffer, I think. I think you'll lose your bottom, and it'll sound kinda toppy. Did you plan on a sealed unit, or have the back ported for bass response??

I'd do a smaller scale test model, and see what you think. Get the materials, and build a car sized kicker box, and see how the sound is effected by the material used in constructing it.

I seem to recall the heavier and denser the material, the better the bass response, and sustain you'll get. (or am I thinking of guitar body construction here...argh...it's been so many, many years...lol)

:)

I plan on using thick plexi. I am planning on trying it on a standard house speaker and then just running that up through my 2x12 combo. If this works I will probibly try it on a cheaper 2x12 cab and if this turns out good do it to my final 4x12 and play with that. I want to know though, what kind of material should i use to guard the speaker in the front?

also I am pretty sure it would but just checking, would a cold cath or led give me feedback?

Speaker Grilles? I'd get some standard 12" grilles....

Feedback.....hmmm...don't know 'bout that. Might get that funky 60 cycle hum going on...lol. How would you power a CC light?? 120VAC to 12VDC converter, or do they make 120VAC CC lights??

I was gonna be lazy and have a seperate power outlet and switch. as for the skeaper grills, if it is a full 4x12 a 12" speaker grill wont do and If i make each seperate they will be in cube cases and the usually arent cube shaped either.

I was more thinking the 12" round grilles that mount using the four screws/nuts and bolts that mount the speakers themselves....
