I just installed windows on my new system. The first screen now says "To begin, click your username." However, there are no usernames, the mouse doesn't work, and from what I can tell neither does the keyboard. What gives?

Ok. The keyboard actually works. I hit ctrl alt del to see if I could restart. It won't let me restart, but it is asking for a username and password. This is the first time I have ever installed this...how could it ask for a username and password?

which version of windows? XP?

when you installed it were you asked for a name or password?

you can try typing in administrator for a user and no password.

Now this....

I am getting these error messages....

Error:

Contact your administrator, who may prvide assistance in diagnosing this problem.

Any ideas on this? This was after running the repair for Windows. (It is XP btw)

Try logging in as Administrator. You can also use WRC from the windows CD (Windows recovery console)
