hi there I’ve got a intel 2.8ghz 478 at 800fsb not sure if its a prescott, but my idel temps at 32c at 3.4ghz and max load around 50c on cheap watercooled I’m gonna go with saying its a northwood. is there any way to push this to 3.6? I’m using a asus p4p800-vm main board a gig of ram and since this board wont oc I’ve made it oc using clock gen. Is there any other way to up the voltage or anything? I would like to see 3.6 out of this processor, but if its not possible then that’s cool 3dmark05 says the max on this processor is 3.6 so maybe I should try 3.5ghz? also side note is there any program out there that will check the stability of a overclocked processor? thanks again ok i did a lil more resarch and i think one guy was right with integrated video i cant push past 250fsb i get a blue screen and a reboot so i think im stuck at 3.5ghz unless i get another board?

I'd check with Everest as to what kind of proc you have, sounds like a Prescott. Those temps... what thermal compound do you use and how well is the install. That's a bit hot for any water system. What's your vCore at?

whatever came with my waterblock I didn't have any thermal compound of my own. The install is rock solid and it's a 10 deg drop in idle temps over stock fan and almost 20 deg drop in max temp I'm guessing on that cause when i pushed to 3.4ghz on air cooling my temps were around 65c i didnt continue testing oced on stock after that. lol I'm at 3.5ghz right now max load is 50c my vcore is sitting at 1.568v but it did dip down to 1.488v a few times i got a auto reboot again I'm gonna drop it back to 3.4ghz sighs

The temps sound right for a northwood.. my 2.6C @ 3.5 is around there.. well my idle is higher b/c i kinda jimmy-rigged my watercool as a temporary setup till my lga775 system comes but it does the job. My load temps are around 46-48C
