SSD: Intel 320 80GB (no problems, yet)

Motherboard: Abit IP35 Pro

Drivers used: iata_enu_10.8.0.1003

I'm new to SSDs. My BIOS is in RAID mode, which I'm assuming also enables AHCI. My SSD toolbox says I'm optimized and have the latest firmware as of this writing. I've followed all SSD optimizations listed here. My write performance is slow. What could I be doing wrong?

Everything looks just like it should. The write speed of SSDs depend greatly on the size of the SSD, so the 80GB 320 writes slower than the 160GB 320, which in turn writes slower than the 300GB 320.

Looks fine to me as well. The 320 series is Sata II based. It's not going to exceed The Bandwidth of Sata II for anything + the Intel 320 series hasn't got the best writing speeds. But they run a very solid reliable controller. I'd worry less about write speeds.. Frankly you won't notice it unless you're doing a LOT of file moving, etc.. You've got a very reliable drive there. ^^

With only 1 x SSD connected to the Intel ICH9R PCH, why do you have the SATA mode set to RAID instead of AHCI?
