NEED HELP, Does anyone know whether the 440 will go beyond 100MHz FSB (Its not rated for it)?

I have a gigabyte GA-686BX board and i want to OVERCLOCK via FSB, but i cant go beyond 450MHz with a PII 300MHz without higher FSB.

My current CPU temp is 21 degrees celcius, with an original intel heat sink & fan,

Any help would be appreciated, thx.

The chipset can go much higher than 100 FSB. I have one running near 150MHz. It depends on the implementation of the bios by the MB manufacturer, as to what FSBs are available, since they hinge on the choice of clock generator chip, and not the BX chipset.

I run the FSB at 142 MHz on my BX board. During testing of a PIII 533EB, I had it running with the FSB at 155 MHz. Any GeForce card will run with the FSB up to 150 MHz on a BX mobo.

yeppers, 440BX will do it - have been running my @ 133Mhz clean for a while now..... but definitely need a vid card that can handle overclocked AGP (unless you have PCI).....

soyo syba6+III
pIII 550e @ 735mhz (fsb 133 mhz)
generic pc133 cas3 RAM
geforce2 MX (tornado)
soundblaster live! value
WD 15/20 gig ATA-66 7200rpm drives
Peripherals

She ain't the fastest, but better than a compaq........hehe........

Most AGP Vid cards will handle a High fsb of atleast 140mhz fsb (93mhz AGP bus). I know when I first bought my V5 5500 AGP there was a lot of people saying that you could not overclock with them. Unless you bought the PCI version. But I was running my 600E with a fsb of 140fsb rock solid with that card.

I still run it with a fsb of 120mhz with this PIII 800E.

Thanx For your help people... I'm using a GeForce2 MX right now, so i dont think there will be a problem there. It's most likely a problem with my motherboard. Anyone heard of the B21 trick? If so, do you know an equivalent to make it think its 133MHz FSB?
