question from newbie : i have a p IV 1.4 on a intel 850 mobo and i whould like to tweakt the fsb what is the max i should put it to ?

thanks

Well first every CPU is different on how much it can take so there is no set amount that you will have to run. Also to get the highest amount of FSB you will need to raise core voltage [CV] to your CPU but you must watch your temps or you will fry it! The best thing to do is try and see how high you can go but before you get started I would read the tips section on overclocking and get a good idea of what your doing befort you start also check the CPU database and see what other people have done with your CPU and maybe you will get lucky and see your MB [motherboard] in there as well.

good luck

Is this an Intel Brand motherboard or are you referring to it being an Intel 850 chipset? As of a month or two ago, the only good i850 overclockable mobo was the Asus i850 (don't remember the exact model). If this is truly an Intel brand, then you're probably screwed. Intel don't want you to overclock, so they don't usually allow adjustments.
