It's L3 cache, not L2...different from the older P3 Xeons that sported 2mb of L2 cache.

Backside or L3 cache has a higher latency time to the CPU than L2 does.
 
Hmmm... I will stick with XP1600+s thanks :). Dual Xeons would empty my bank account, and thats just for the CPUs!
