Is $598 to much to pay ? also how high of an overclock would I get with air cooling ?

I wouldn't buy one. The reason is pretty simple - it's still the same stepping as the rest of them. It might have slightly better yield than a 2.2, but not much. Buy a 2.2 and you can probably overclock just as much.

rougly in the 2.5-2.6 with air cooling eh.. hummm

More like 2.8-2.9 with high-end air cooling and a voltage bump. 3GHz with water cooling.
