I was wondering what you guys think. In the past year or so I have started to build my own systems and have always gone with AMD because they are cheaper and from what I heard faster.I started with a athlon 800. It seems like every few months I get board and get a new mobo and cpu.I now have a Athlon xp 2000 MSI K7T266 Pro2 w/raid geforce 3 512 ddr pc-2100 and 2 60 gig IBM 7200.I am still not happy,it just seems when I get on my friends p3's and p4's they just run smother in windows or what ever application it is.Is it just me? am I chasing a ghost?

what is the best board for P4 2.0 or 2.2 512k,would you go with ddr or RD intel chipset or another one..please help out and thanks in advance

Be happy with that. Your system is faster than 90% of everyone on this forum. If you're running slower try checking drivers and 4-in-1's. Mayhaps a mobo defect even. Your system is kickin=)

Never tried a AMD machine. I didn't like what I heard about them and personally I am not sorry.

Ol'Man
I was going to try and see for myself if I liked the P4,instead of going by what everyone else say's..that's all

I myself am a new T-Bird owner and let me tell ya, it isn't that much different. The main area that I notice a difference in between my PIII and Athlon is boot up time due to the DDR... other than that, performance is marginally better. I'd say you got nothin' to be sorry about. Don't get me wrong, I like my AMD rig just fine. It's just not all it's cracked up to be around here.

Lucky13, I'd stick with what you have. It's a nice fast system and on the relative top of the market right now. It's certainly not worth ditching it and getting a NW, IMHO.

We use both AMD and Intel at work and I've built and used machines for personal and business use using just about flavor AMD and Intel CPU since the 486

From what I've noticed Intel machines seem to handle running multiple applications better and overall run more stable with less issues. But AMD does beat Intel in raw clock speed with the XP and for running single apps. or games AMD boxes slam.

No matter what system your using you still have to tune it to fit your needs by finding the right hardware, OS and drivers to achieve maximum stability. Sadly...your hardware is only as good as the software that will run on it

i agree with the above posts...the problem you are having is with software...your chip is really fast....

well I tried to delete the post but it wont let me.All I was doing on a double post was trying to get bothside's of the story,I did not know this was not acceptable..sorry everyone
