They played with these when they come out over at XS, as far as I know they work in the C2D mobos and the clocks were similar.
Biggest difference I remember was newegg's included warrantee the Xeon's was longer that and the slight price increase.

I don't remember enough results to really know if they scaled any better.. I don't even recall enough of them to get an average VID.

If I'm not mistaken the only difference between this CPU and the E6400 is that this one runs in SMP mode, while the E6400 does not. The chips are identical aside from that.

Its stamped Xeon.... its Intel's "Certified" Server chip nothing else is probably different. Its just like AMD low end Opterons. If any difference it might go through stricter tests (probably heat would be my guess) if anything.

Its a rebranded C2D thats been binned for server use, a guy over at the toms harware forum compared a 3060 to an E6600, he found out that the 3060 was a little cooler and oc'ed a little better. ill look for the link.

found it, here, oc results benchs and more.

I was going to get the 3060 but Newegg had Advanced Warfighter as a free bundle. Couldn't pass it up.

GRAW wasnt to good.. i want a 3050!

Well I found that out after. Meh, o well. To this day I wonder if I could have gotten 4Ghz.... Guess I'll never know.

Give it no mercy Clanger!!
I still remember what your cooling was able to do with that pressler :sn:

yes i was looking at that but how do i "pencil" that the only pencil mod ive seen was proths ghetto pencil mod, where you use the pencil between the pins... how do i do it with that type of gap...???

Im half temped to just get a 50k VR and get my friend to solder it.

proths getto pencil mod was between two smp legs..

A pencil mod on this would be on top of the resistor or down on the board drawing between the legs of that surfase reistor, but you wouldn't get as much resistance as a fixed risistor or VR, I wouldn't expect much more then 20ohms out of heavy penciling.

hmm, so what your saying is draw a line with a pencil to the points specified on the board or just across that lil resistor???

also in that futher in that thread from XS they dont recommend doing that mod with a pencil.

GM, where are you referring about a "proth post?" I have been trying to get a hold of him for months. Is it a new post?
