is agp8x nessasary?

here is the deal i have 250 to spend on a computer upgrade. i want to add a new power supply, and a motherboard or a video card. meaning either psu+mobo , or video+psu. my graphics card sucks now and i was wondering do i really need agp 8x to run a ati9600xt and recieve good performance. if not i could hold off on buying and new motherboard and would i notice a significant decrease in performance?

you will receive good performance...maybe losing 2-5% max without have 8x...most benches I have seen show no difference between the two...but I believe in a game maxed out for a few hours you will lose a little due to the larger bandwidth of 8x

An agp8x card will run in a 4x motherboard just fine, just in 4x mode. Go ahead and get the card, it looks like you need it. Besides, you probably wont see ANY difference in todays cards between 4x and 8x anyway.

I say go with a tleast a 400w psu, just to be on te safe side and in case you might wanna upgrade later on

fortron is the same as sparkle right? 350w forton should be perfectly fine
