So I am new here and joined this forum to learn more Good Things.

I have Mafia III and getting problem with it. I know I have low-end PC but the people who have high-end PCs also facing some problem.

Anyway, I decide why not overclock GPU a little and finally the game is playable.

My Rig:
Intel Core i3-4130 - 3.4 Ghz
Gigabyte Geforce GT740 2GB OC Edition (Graphic Driver Updated to latest)
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N740D5OC-2GI-rev-10-11#ov
16 GB - DDR3 1600Mhz
Windows 10 Professional x64 (Fully Updated)

This card is OC Edition and the Factory settings as below:

GPU Clock showing 1072 Mhz
Memory Clock 5000 Mhz

I slightly overclocked it to:

GPU Clock 1072 Mhz + 50 Mhz = 1122 Mhz
Memory Clock 5000 Mhz + 12 Mhz = 5000 Mhz

Here are two pics, in which you can see the same. Note that this pics taken when I was not gaming so card is not using the full GPU Clock and Memory Clock.

Also in NVIDIA control panel, I made little changes for (MAFIA III) as per below:

1) Antialiasing Mode - Set to "OFF"
2) Power management mode - set to "GLOBAL"
3) Vertical Sync - Set to "OFF"

My question, did I do right or wrong? Someone says that if you turn off Vertical Sync off then card will FRY but after 3 days of gaming (around 8 hours continuous playing per day), The card is still stable and game like MAFIA III, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and Just Cause 3 are working fine.

If I did wrong then please let me know, so I will do it correct manner.

1. Setting AA to off 8n the NVCP means it wont work on any game. Leave it auto amd control AA through the game.
2. Power management doesnt do a thing performamce wise, leave it on auto or performance.
3. Vsync doesnt burn out cards, lol. It limits fps to match your monitors refresh.

Thank you very much for the guidance. I still turn V-Sync off.

Regarding "AA", I set is off only for "MAFIA III" through NVIDIA Control Panel by selecting MafiaIII.exe.
Generally its set to "Application Controlled for all other games.

My question is that can I increase Clock setting more or this is OK? I need to know the limit of this GPU.

Why I did this to gain some more FPS in MAFIA III and finally I got it and eventually the "CLOTHES-TEARING" during Cut-Scene very minor after Overclocking. I don't know why & how this related with overclock but this is happening.

Also when I set game resolution to @1680x1050 then Game graphics looks awesome the lighting effects become excellent, FPS increase in BAYOU and in City, the game is running excellent without single FPS drop.

Really don't understand, how this is related with overclocking whereas I overclocked very minor.

Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I wish if you can do this with that person. He trolled me on Steam Discussion.

Overclocking raises fps which could cause that tearing...

When you lower the resolution of you monitor, the video card pushes less pixels and gets more frames.

I completely understand your point but In my case, when I overclocked, the FPS increased as well as screen tearing is now very minimal.

I asked one of my friend and he did overclocked the same and says that screen tearing during cut-scene is now very minimal.

Anyway, can I overclock my GPU more. is there any possibility? If yes, please guide me.

Like i said your fps changed and so would screen tearing in some cases...

Every gpu is different as far as clocks it will reach. Push and test...if it works without artifacts or doesnt freeze, you are good. If not back it off. Cant hurt it. ;)

Thank you @EarthDog, I increased GPU CLOCK to 1162, The problem with Mafia III, Game loads fine and when game start, its Freeze within 10 secs.

Checked Just Cause 3 with same and its working fine. No freeze.

Actually, I don't know if I increase GPU Clock then should I have to increase Memory Clock and Fan Speed. and if Voltage matter with that settings. I wish to understand the Combination / Calculation, if there is any possibility.

This is my suggestion that can you make a Separate Sub-Forum where different users of this forum can post the best tweak for different GPUs. (One thread for one Model/GPU). The best Working & Authenticate would be on Top. So this can be a lot more help for PC Gamer.

BTW, we can understand the GPU & its working criteria more clearly as well as know about best software to check GPUs.

This is only the suggestion. If not possible, no problem.
