Hey, is there any reason why this wouldn’t work. I’m thinking about building a little box underneath my case to hold my pump and maybe another psu to power all my fans, and maybe someday a pelt. What I really want to know is if it’s ok to lay the heater core down like that.

BTW paint stinks!

The only disadvantage I can see, is the fact that your pump will have a little more height to push, therefore reducing the total flow somewhat.

I'd turn it on its side... the fan on the bottom woudn't pick up any air at all.

No, I'm going to have some holes cut in the add on box, and I might stick some fans in there as well. So the bottom fan will suck in air from both sides and the front.

Yeah, I thought about that, but it's an Eheim 1250 (317 gph) and the distance from the top of the pump to the block would only be about 9 1/2". It wouldn't be too bad, would it??

BTW, The pic is not to scale. :p

I drew up a somewhat similar idea the other night.

you can lok at it for ideas if you want. We also had a small discussion on ways to improve it so you might pick up ideas from that too
