actually you can monitor and administor across the internet assuming the machine you want to check has a static IP, or a dynamic IP and is never turned off...

i used http://www.tightvnc.com since it is a bit faster

there is small program called Remote Administrator, it allows you to view or to control...it works surprisingly well, much better than most of the regular(PC Anyway, etc...)software
