Well, here is the story. I was finishing up the install of my water cooler sytem by adding some hose clamps to the water block cause I couldn't sleep at night knowing it might leak even though I tested it for 3 days with no leaks. when I was putting the Dangerden holding clip back on I heard a snap!! OH SH_T !! I took a look to find that I snaped a lug. GREAT!! Anyway, I went ahead and made a rig to support the water block and while I was doing this I decided to take a look at my bird to see if there was any damage. All I saw was that I chiped two corners barely.I prayed that it wouldn't hurt the cores preformance. i put it all back together and turned it on and nothing, everything started, but no video, no beep, no smoke, no fire!! NO NOTHING!! So I decided to see what the motherboard did without the cpu in it to see if it would do the same thing. And it did exactly, looks as if the MB doesn't even see the cpu. So, i figured that in my rush for the perfect water system to get this bird stable at 1100 mhz+ (was stable at 1050 with 1.85v @49 with air cooler) I think I killed my cpu. Mainly i guess i'm just looking for comfermation that the bird is dead cause I'm still in denile. If I did then oh well, during the overclocking experence i guess you have to kill something. Anyway, i guess i'll get another bird or a duron, I wonder if there is that much difference to justify the price. Anyway, someone please make me feel alittle better from my experence and give any suggestions about anything to ge me overclocking again. Can't live without that bug.

Yes...there is no leeway on the Tbird at all. Little chip in the wrong place = dead CPU. Little chips in another place might have no effect. Just luck of the draw, looks like your CPU is dead.

Well I installed my water rig, the Blizzard kit I just bought, after it's installed, NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING. My core was chipped all the way around the core including the corners and it still work (800tbird by the way). Anyways, i came to the conclusion that the copper shim I had made contacts on the cpu where there shouldn't be contacts and that killed it, if you have a copper shim in use that might be the case also.

WHOOO HOOOOO!!! She's not dead!!! I got to inspecting the cpu and found that some how I had gotton some epoxy on the gold leads of the cpu when sealing some area's on my water tank. Don't ask me how. But after spending an hour cleaning the leads i plugged her in and off she went. There is still damage to the core, but she seems like she is still cooking along. And just think I just about scrapped her. LOL!!

Well, so far I have her at 1092mhz @1.85v and 3.5v I/O. I got her into windows at 1133mhz but I think my memory is giving out on me, when I run 3dmark2000 she quits. Run at 1092 and life seems good. But i do have this POS mem that is pc100@ 133 and running fast settings with cas 2. I don't know if she can take anymore SCOTTY! Any way going to try to take mem back to default settings to see how far I can go, then slowly crank the mem back up. But I'm happy at 1092, Sandra marks out run Pent. 1.5gig. WHHOOOO YOOO!! Check out attachments!!!
