This isn't good. I flashed the bios on my Kt7-Raid two days ago and everything went fine. I used my computer yesterday morning and it worked fine also. I left for a couple of hours and when I came back it was off. I thought that was odd because it's normally running 24/7. Anyways, I go to turn it on and it just sits there with the fans spinning up and nothing else happening. The monitor doesn't sense any signal and the hard drive light doesn't shut off. Basically it just hangs there without even posting. Now comes the weird part. The power button on the front doesn't turn it off so I have to flip the switch on the Enermax 431W psu. Now, when I flip the switch and turn it back on, the computer starts up.

Does it sound like my PSU has gone bad even though it's about 1 month old, or has my mb gone south? Any help is greatly appreciated.

And yes, I have a fan plugged into header-1.

A number of factors can stop you dead like that. I assume by now you have opened the case and made sure the HSF didn't fall off or the fan on it crap out, yielding a toasted CPU. Any peculiar smell of death?
Unplug the ATX power connector and jumper it per the attached jpeg. Turn on the switch on the Enermax and measure the different output voltages. Lastly, clear the cmos and see if it comes back up. LEt us know what you find.

Well, I unplugged everything and finally got some time to root around in the case and there was a faint smell of death in there. I didn't catch it the first time around due to allergy season. However, I'm mystified as to how this happened. The hsf was properly seated, all the fans powered up, and everything seems okay. I'm going to order another cpu and see if it fixes the problem, yet I'm hesitant because I don't know exactly what happened.

Thanks for the help.

I have determined that it isn't the power supply. I swapped in my old 250w psu and problems still around. I finally caved and bought a 1ghz/200 t-bird (for 120 bucks) and will hopefully have it in a few days. I hope that was the problem. I swapped everything else out except for the cpu and mobo, these being my only ones. Crap, I hope it was the cpu and not the mobo because I only have enough money for one right now. My b-day's coming up in a few months so maybe by then I could scrap together some gift money.

I'm still wondering how this happened. I took the entire computer apart and the cpu looked fine, and only smelled a little bit, but it did smell burnt faintly. This pisses me off that this chip died (if it did).
