Hi, I have the ASRock z77 Extreme6 and the i7-3770k.

I was trying to overclock the cpu and I got 4.8ghz at 1.37v and the temps were around 80c so I decided to try for 4.9ghz.... I set the multiplier to 49 and left the voltage where it was at so I could increase it incrementally as needed. When I did that the pc turned on normally, I got to the desktop and started prime95 blend. A few seconds in of course I get a blue screen stating that I needed more vcore, so I wait out the blue screen and the PC restarts itself but the monitor never shows anything at this point, its completely black and never recognizes a signal.

I tried clearing the CMOS several times to no avail, the problem persists. The code on my motherboard LED flashes a bunch of numbers/letters and then 79 appears and sticks on 79. I've tried removing both my graphics cards and all sticks of ram except one, and connecting the monitor directly to the motherboard and still get the same problem. Do you think my motherboard is damaged?

Sounds bad. I'd try another power supply if you have one handy. Be sure to pretty much disconnect everything remove cmos battery for 15 minutes etc then see where your at man. The only other option is ASrock technical support to find out what error code 79 is.

+1 Pull the power plug and disconnect the CMOS battery for 15 minutes and press the power button to discharge any remaining power.

This is what I would do.

That is a very good PSU, I'd be quite surprised if it caused you issues.

I've tried that already I've tried clearing the CMOS 50 different ways, I think my board is broken. I'm going to RMA it.
