I'm still having trouble getting a stable system past 124fsb (133fsb is the next step up.) My power supply is a 200watt max:

+3.3v 12 amp max
+5v 18 amp max
+12v 4.2 amp max
-5v .05 amp max
-12v .08 amp max
+5vsb .05 amp max

My equipment: Asus P3v4x mobo, 750E slot 1 processor, 256 meg Crucial PC133 CAS2, Alpha 3125S Heatsink w/YS Tech Fans (Arctic Silver II), Maxtor 60 Gig HD, Geforce 2 MX, Soundblaster PCI, DVD Rom, CD Rom, Network card.

Do I need more juice in this thing to get it stable? Recommendations for ampage? I tried a 250watt with 12v at 13 amp max and saw no positive change in stability.

If you are asking, then you probably are experiencing power-related woes. I would highly recommend AT LEAST a 300w PSU, and maybe a larger one still. For less than $100 shipped, you can get an Enermax PSU with over 400w and very clean delivery.

Try PCNut or warpfactor-e. Both places carry the product and will treat you right .

I would like to be optimistic, but it seems to me that 133 fsb is never a cinch on a 750e since that puts it at 1 gig and there are a lot of p3's that just don't get that far.

The problem is that you haven't any fsb between 124 and 133. That is a really big jump. There may be several speeds in between at which you would have a solid oc, and there is certain to be some fsb near to 133 that is the max for your chip, either a little below or a little above.

Several people here run boards that go up by 1 mhz increments. There is some speed that is the max for each of these. They often know they are at the limit because they can see signs of instability as they approach the limit and can narrow down the problem by observing the need for a elevated vcore, vio or simply by seeing a sudden rise in temps near the limit.

I don't know how you can get that kind of incremental feedback. Most of your system seems entirely adequate, so the thing holding it back is not obvious. And your only available fsb is right near the limit.

Could be power I suppose, but if vcore and vio is where needed and no other power related problems are apparent, I would be doubtful that that is the problem. If you have money to blow go for it, or, better yet, borrow a 300 watt ps and check it out.

hey brad i would say mess with the cpu's core voltage and the i/o voltages and get it stable, i doubt it is the power supply since you tested it on a 250, unless that one just sucks...im running my system on an SH-250 watt ps and it is running stable as can be! but i can't get the fsb at 151 stable lol oh well!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your help. I appreciate it. I decided to give up the fight and be happy at 930. Thanks!
