Rig below says it all I got Skyrim Remastered edition (so they call it) and the game did it's usual check and said my rig can only handle it on low settings other games are fine but a lot of people on Skyrim Steam Chat page are now saying my rig is too low end???? Should I start to save for a new rig I was going to just upgrade my GPU and RAM to 16GB at some point but I have a feeling getting a RX480 might bottleneck the card with the 2600k I have

Overclock to 4.5ghz, get the 480 and MAYBE get another 8gb ram, issue sorted for a couple years ;)

I said maybe because I know Skyrim can be a memory hog if you have a ton of addons :) Also what other games/programs OP uses that might benefit from 16gb, might clinch the deal if it's needed or not ?

The original engine was a 32bit engine so only upto 4GB of RAM could be used, The new one however... I do think they optimized the memory properly though.

If OP can afford and needs it sometimes ofcourse he should do it, But if the only taxing game (And software) he gonna play is skyrim remastered its not necessary.

[email protected]=[email protected]. Except fro new techs as PCIe3.0, DDR4 and m2.

Grab a bit more ram. The 7850 starts showing its age as well.

No need in changing platform. +8GB DDR and a 480 or a 1060 and you're golden for a couple of years to come.

Edit: with the rig in sig, I play everything maxed out@1080p. MIght do a bit of sacrifice on AntiaLIASING, BUT THAT'S IT,.

As others have said, the 2600K is still fine, and at 4.6Ghz is = more or less to stock 6700K. Other specs like cache are identical.
You urgently need a better GPU. As others have said, a RX480 or GTX1060 with 4 (but 6 is better) GB of VRAM and a nice overclock on your CPU is what you need.

Pick up a Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler when you pick up the video card. Overclocking Sandybridge and Ivybridge is dead easy and there is a guide in the Intel CPU stickys under Intel CPU on the forums.

Also some, not many, but some (soon to be more) games do better with over 8GB of system memory so going to 16GB is not a bad idea. DDR3 is cheap right now. Good time to jump on that.
