i changed my fsb to 138. my motherboard (asus a7v266-e) doesnt have a "real" 13 muliplier. it only has 12.5 and lastly 13 (all in the same line). is changing the fsb a better advantage (performance wise) than chnging the multiplier?

increasing the fsb is the way to go, but to get higher fsb's you need to lower the mult.

Not necessarily true. I had an old TBird 750 that I had to lower the mult on....but all the other AMD proc's I've had....durons.....XP.....you name it have been fine at high FSB. Maybe over 160 you'd need to lower the mult.....and sometimes you do have to lower the mult....

Best way to go is to lower the mult, take the FSB as high as you can, then increase the mult until you've reached the max potential of that proc.

I just use the clock down the multi far enough, then up the FSB as high as you can, then up the multiplier as high as you can go. So guessing you have an XP chip, you'd have to unlock it.
