Is the 40mm assistant fan required for Asus Sabertooth X99 motherboard?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is required to install the 40mm fan on Asus Sabertooth X99 motherboard?

Would there be any implications if one does not install the fan?

I installed mine on my Z170 but I don't think it's required. The way I look at it is that all that "armor" does nothing more than cause dead zones next to parts that may need a little air movement so why not install them. If noise is your concern, they are near silent after initial startup. After that I don't hear them at all. If you don't have them I doubt you will see much difference unless you have poor airflow in your case but I would put them on if you have them.
