I currently Have a Geforce 3 Visiontek with blue orb fan runing at 225 core clock , 525 mem clock , Is the Geforce 4 Ti 4400 or 4600 worth to upgrade from my Geforce 3 or shall i wait a lil longer ? I was gearing more towards the ti4400 cause of the price i saw it for $235 on pricewatch. If i overclock the ti4400 if i buy one can I gain the same specifcations exactly or above on the Ti4600 ? Thanks in advance for your opionions and help.

I would just stick it out for a while.
The geforce 4 and geforces 3's technology is basically the same from my understanding. I'm sure there are some new features (like dual outputs) that are there but I don't think they are worth the upgrade.
The only major differnce is the clock/mem speeds.
If your geforce3 is the older ones, maybe upgrading is a possibility, but not needed at all. If you have a geforce 3 ti than I would not spend a penny for atleast another year or so.

In my opinion geforce3 to a geforce4 is like going to a PIII 800 to a 1.0 ghz. I really don't think its a wise upgrade. I think most people suggest waiting 2-3 generation of cards before upgrading.

since you already have a GF3 I'd say you should hang in there for a while....wait for the next generation instead. If you would have had a GF2 of any kind that would be a whole different story, in that case I'd say get a GF4TI4200, priced around $160 (soon to be released)

If it is worth an upgrade or not in your case depends on your budget, if you have a heap of money just lying around why not:p

Personally I'd wait.

You can read some benchies 'n stuff on the new 4200 here

I think thats what I will do guys , ill stick it out for a bit or maybe ill buy a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 and oc it to hell :) , Since I could always put my Geforce 3 in my P4 1.4Ghz and Use my Geforce 4 for my AMD watch think of this decision ? I don't feel like soldering sum more chips for ps2 44wires to make $100 per install i break my *** for a buck at 16 lol.

keep your gf3 bro, i dont see a reason why you should upgrade to a ti4200 and above.
Your card is still more than enough to play any games out there. Not unless you have the xtra cash to put out.
:D
get a ti4200 or ti4400...
ti4600 just isnt worth it for the price.
You could build a new system for that price.

If you have monitor larger than 17 inch you might need to upgrade a faster card. Geforce4 is fast but I heard some people having problem with it. Maybe wait a little untill everything cool and less expensive if you need one.

I have a samsung 955df 19inch monitor . I think I will wait for the geforce 4 ti 4200 if its only $180 or below ill definetly pickone up for the price but if its more then that hell no lol . It comes with 128 ram rite? btw all of you ty for help.

i actually disagree with the worth of the card...i believe it's worth every penny...but then again, it's all a matter of opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs...i do however agree on what dragonbud is saying...your card is close to what the ti4600 speeds are and i doubt you would notice a big change...but like dragonbud said, if you do have a quite a bit of spending money to kill, buy a ti4600...just my 2 though...

I personally would never buy a top-of the-line vid card....I think it's just not worth it. The way I see it it's way better to wait a little for the "budget versions" (in this case the 4200). That card will easily kick a$$ in all current games as well as in games in the nearby future. More than enough to keep up until the next "budget card" arrives.....but hey that's just me:rolleyes:

And me too! ;)

Since this is a overclockers forum, I think that you should try to get your geforce3 up to geforce 4 ti4200 speeds. Or if for somereason you feel a geforce 4 is needed (I see no reason to buy one) just get the 4200 and o/c up to 4400 speeds or 4600

I am in agreement here keep your Geforce 3, ppl are having some probs. with frame rates etc. with the Geforce 4???
What game out there at the moment warrants a Geforce 4 anyway?? I have a Iiyama 19" Monitor & run top res. on most of my games, with everything jacked up or turned on....Great results with my Geforce 3.

Save your money for a while.

Acko

I agree with acko that people are having problem with frame rates issue in many games "not in benchmarks"??? For now, it still better off stay with Geforce3. I myself want to upgrade from GF2. Sine I heard about problems people are now having, I would wait.

I have a GF3 on a PIII 800@900 and a GF4 TI4600 on a P4 2.0 @2.2.To be honest,I really didnt need to.I can see a difference in the games and they do look alot better on my GF4 system, but was it worth the cash?? For some it will be and others no.If you are not looking for bragging rights and dont need the extra eye candy, stay with your GF3.Spend 40 or so and pick up a crystal orb and some ram sinks.Even if you cant get higher clocks(you will) the card will preform better. The issue of frame rates on the GF4 cards seems to be an IRQ issue. The card has to be on 10 or 11 ALONE.Peaple that have placed it alone on one of those have gotten there framerates up.When I first ran my P4 system I used the GF3 and got the low 9K range, the GF4 at the same setting get around 10700.You judge.

Edit:
I dont know how true it is but I've read that you will limit your GF4 card alot if you are running a processor under 2.0.They say the preformace increase on a slower mach will be limited. Just something else to consider.

bah n m Geforce 4 I know what im gona buy ^_^ Pioneer A04 DVD-R burner :) weeee I think thats more needed for the stuff i do such as PS2 gamez , Xbox , movies , and backing up sum major stuff on my pc. Geforce 4 since all i hear is problems Im going to give it a wait till they come out with an ultra of sum sort of maybe Geforce 5 :) O yea btw I thought 1.53Ghz Athlon Was basically the monster of the p4 2.0Ghz ? From the benchmarks i saw so what is Nvidia talking about lolz , 1.53Ghz AMD owns 2ghz p4 I think alot of people would agree with me on that. Im not knocking your processor im knocking nvidia for not telling consumers about AMD's processors just cause they aren't 2Ghz doesn't mean they dont beat a 2ghz p4.

I agree,AMDS do alot better in 3dmarks scores I was just passing along what I Learned on my systems and Info i had read about.I wasnt knocking anything either, just trying to help him make his decision on the upgrade.

As far as I know you can't backup PS2 or xbox DVD games. They read from the outside in which is why they can't be read in a normal DVD drive.

Sorry I know its off subject.
