For some reason, my swifty mcxc370 w/ delta 60mm (reading 5743 rpm, even though it's connected to psu) is at 37/40 C when the ambient is 26-27. I'm running a celly 1.2 @ 1.5 right now, and i believe these temps are too high for the swifty. Can anyone explain why this is so?

Welcome to the Forum!!!:D

actually, 37C idle for a 25% OCed cpu isn't bad...
your temp can be affected greatly with the airflow inside the case...what kind of cooling you got in that rig? did you use any AS? tell us more so we can help:D
you can add your rig as your signature, go into USER CP tab for it.

and be sure to read some of the beginner guides on the front page:D

yeah, i use as2; i use an antec sx1030 soho case, so there's a fan going into the case (front bottom), one into my hdd's (you should know where THAT is) and two exhaust fans (next to the CPU in the back). I also have a blowhole pointing at the cards and another blowhole on top of the case (blowing out). anyway, even though some ppl would be happy w/ a .35 cw, i'm not, since i was expecting somehting in the .20's

That is cooling quite well actually.

Only a 10 to 13 degree difference from ambient is quite good. Get more case cooling and it will drop significantly;)

its quite hard to be 20's with aircooling....i use a MCX462, and the temp now is 32C idle, and 36C with folding in the background. one thing you can do is turn the 2 fans near your cpu to be intake, and the 2 located in the bottom-front to be exhaust...your cpu may need more fresh air:D

hmm... interesting idea. And i forgot to tell you that the two blowholed fans are 120mm nidec's Beta V B31256. I have those set in the 5volt line (in 12volt, it's rated at 48.4db!). doing simple math, the fans should be at about 47cfm (112cfm / 12v * 5v) each. I'm off to bed now. i'll post the results tomorrow afternoon after work's over (pac time)

didn't work... it's even worse now, but the cpu is still 13-14 over ambient... and this is a LOW power cpu too...

oh man....humm...
how hot is your room? your ambient of around 26-27C is pretty hot...may be this is why. try ducting your cpu fan to one of the intake, or make a new blowhole directly above your cpu. or try lapping your HS, and reapply AS3. don't give up yet!

actually, here's something else really weird: my bro has a 1.0ghz tbird (stock speed) and i put my old alpha pal6035 w/ ystech on it. for some strange reason, his ambient temp is 22!!! with a cpu temp of 40/43. His side panel on his case is off. the ystech is sucking (as it should be)... The most bizzare part is that his case is right smack next to his monitor, while mine is on the floor. and yes, we are in the same room; i can touch his computer from my position!

my bro has a cheap $30 case w/ 2 80mm fans on it (one next to cpu and one in front bottom). the tbird sits on some type of ecs motherboard.

i have determined that the ambient temp diode is right next to the heatsink, since the ambient temp varies directly with the cpu temp (there's no way my ambient temp is 31+!!!). I put the fan duct, as requested, and the temp is now the same. now, for long term use (like at least a year and a half), should my system last that long?

Celeron 1.2 @ 1503 : 6.25v
temps of 41-44c (i put a sunon fan in replacing the delta 38)

your temp won't damage your computer, just that you can't OC much higher. a lot of system is running hotter than yours, so no need to worry:D

ok, just wondering what happens long term. Just wondering though, how does a CPU get its temp? I'm wondering because "they just tend to know"

i have almost no money, and even if i make most of the system on my own, i don't have the resources to do so. Not just that, this celly doesn't make TOO much heat... which gives me an idea... I'll post back later.

This may or maynot put your temp fears to rest. I have cel 1.2a running on a soyo tisu board. Temp seemed to high at 40c till I did some searching at soyo and intel sites and found out that they are monitoring the cpu temp from inside the core and that 40c is well below the 69c high limit for the cel 1.2a. I don't know if your motherboard is this way or not. A simple test that I did was to unplug cpu fan and watch temp reading in bios. Went up to 41c after about 1 min. I have o'clocked to 1.436 and temp still stays at 40-41c.
