I just finished my new system....
MSI Turbo2 mobo
Athlon XP 1700
Other than that, it is just as described below. It runs at about 55 deg C constantly without load and about 60 degrees under heavy load using Sandra....both without overclocking. Is this normal? It just doesnt seem to be as fast as I thought it would be. Any info or ideas?

Well, you could do a little better on temps, but you should be OK. What are you using for cooling?

Also, why don't you think it is as fast as you though it would be? That system should be lightning...

For doubling what I used to have in CPU speed, I just dont see the results that I expected. I am using a Volcano heatsink and fan. I am beginning to suspect the hard drive at this point....maybe Windows 98SE only runs so fast.
I havent tried Windows XP on it yet....maybe that will be an indication that a format is in order.
