I'm currently running on the following system:

[email protected]
4Gb of RAM
GTX480

I'm thinking of buying these parts:

Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Corsair16GB DDR3 1600MHz (CL9, 1.5 V)

I hope to overclock this setup to at least 4.5Ghz, if I can use my WC on this mainboard.
I'm also upgrading my SSD from one Vertex2 60GB to two Vertex2's in raid 0, because I just got another Vertex2 60GB as a Christmas present.

Will this be a noticeable upgrade or is at bit of a waste? I cant afford to upgrade the vidcard at the moment, but the GTX570 dosnt do much better anyway, from what i can see in the tests. So I'll just keep that until I get more money :)

I use the system for gaming, general use, some photoshopping and music making (The last two is the reason I choose 16Gb of RAM).

What do you think?

If you have the cash; I would go for it. You are upgrading like what, 3 generations worth of processors? Lol. If you're running WC, I'm sure if you get a good chip you'll easily be able to hit 5 ghz with a 2500K. But I would say the difference in general use should be quite substantial. And you'll find photoshop and all those a fair bit more responsive.

Yeah I would just stick with your current card until you're willing to upgrade to the next generation.. That would be my choice. When nvidia come out with their new line would be when I would upgrade in your position.. A GTX 480 should still play every game out there at or near max settings.

Don't forget a fresh install of windows! XD
