Is this worth buying for folding?

While the GTS 450 has a good ppd/watt ratio for a video card, the net gain from adding it to a SB rig is rather small. I wouldn't consider it except with a high end card that produces a lot more ppd. If you gain add 7500 ppd with the card, but lose 5000 ppd off the SMP instance because of contention for cpu resources, is it worth the $100 and 100 additional watts of power draw?

Also why the ECO model? Does it save any power at 100% utilization, or by dropping to low power states (not good for folding)? I seem to recall reading about some issues with the ECO models and folding.

I see your point... I guess I'll wait for ivy bridge. I hope my Shuttle H67 chipset supports it.. (crossing fingers)

H67 at current has no support for Ivy bridge. Sorry.

Ivy Bridge runs with PCI-E 3.0 standard, and I don't think it'll run with anything less? I'm not sure.. But far as I know the ONLY current boards that will support Ivy with a bios update are the Gen 3 boards, where the Gen 3 boards are all Z68. :\
